One of my favorite Mae West quotes is:
When I’m good I’m very good. But when I’m bad I’m even better.

Mae West was so much more than a sexy siren. She challenged the system and brought about more sexual freedom for us all. My favorite quote of hers was made when she was in court for making lewd remarks in public. The judge tried to denounce her as immoral and Mae made some snappy reply with just enough sarcasm to get her point accross but not enough to be slapped with Contempt of Court. The judge then asked in a very stern manner, “Madame, are you trying to show contempt for this court?”, to which Mae replied, “Why, no Your Honor. I’ve been trying my best to hide it.” She lost the bout with the judge for that but gained the respect of the gallery and the media.
