What A Day

I know there’s been controversy for years surrounding Michael Jackson and I’ve never known what to believe about it all. The only thing I know for certain is he was a cute little boy who could really sing and who brought a lot of musical happiness into my life when I was a young teenager. His death, as with Farrah’s, saddens me.

Rest in peace, Michael.

    The king of pop
    has had his heart
    stretched too thin
    and it has stopped.

    The end has come
    to a soul tortured
    by its own being.

    What lived inside
    that so much surgery
    still managed to hide?

    The child never grew.

    The adult never arrived.

    The world contained him
    like a foreign body
    to be isolated
and worked out in the future.

    The child never changed,
    seeming ever more strange
    and curious in his attraction.

Now he is dead at fifty,
    brilliant in his inability
    to understand
    what happened to him.

Thank you. You have a wonderful talent.

It always seemed to me that Michael Jackson was constantly trying to get back what was stolen from him, … his childhood. His tumultuous existence aside, when he was on stage he transcended all problems and projected a joy that I hope he will now find beyond. I hope that history will be kind to this person with so much to give who had so much taken away.

The light of yet another star has faded, at this rate there will not be any stars left to light up the night sky.
