Despite what artists, fashion magazines, and country music lyrics have told us for ages, researchers now claim the majority of people feel long legs aren’t “all that”.
According to an article posted on Couriermail.com.au:
When researchers chose eight images and asked 705 women and 235 men to rate the attractiveness of each shape, five of the six focus groups rated women with longer legs less attractive.
The article went on to add:
They also did not prefer women with short legs, a body shape often associated with poor health.
I admit I’m surprised. As a woman whose legs are definitely not long, I have always assumed that I would have to accentuate other assets ;) Well, I suppose I still do as I fall in the “short legs” category. I’m not exactly sure why short legs signal poor health, but if the researchers say it’s so, well there you have it ;)

I don’t know if it’s the length of the leg that matters so much as the curve. Modern women’s fashions have put a lot of effort into making a woman’s legs look longer and to accentuate the curve in the calf. A woman with unnaturally long legs may simply choose to wear slightly different fashions (perhaps “easier” fashions) to achieve an aesthetic look.
Personally… I’m not really a leg person. At 6-foot-2, a woman’s legs are a long way away :-) I’ll notice her hair long before I’ll notice her legs.
I disagree. Women with long legs are so hot. They look so much better than women with short legs because short legs are usually fat.
It is futile to make rules about the length of legs. All of that is a matter of personal preference. Fat or thin, does not matter. I admit that I succumb to first impressions when seeing a woman. But later, it does not seem to matter. Personality is more important. For example, an otherwise beautiful woman can irrritate others with her voice, manner, and attitude. As a final note, I always say, “It’s not what you have, but what you do with it …” I would rather live with a homely woman whom I can love, as opposed to some beauty who consistently pisses me off.

I wasn’t making rules about the lengths of legs. I’m not God so I can’t control that :) I asked if you agreed that long legs were not as attractive as average length legs (whatever that is) and appreciate you sharing your feelings on the subject.

I did not mean to be so sensitive. I love long legs on a woman as long as they are in proportion. It is a matter of preference. I do take a bit of offense when one assumes that everybody prefers long legs on a woman. One must not look at parts detatched from the whole without doing the person injustice. It is no different than preferring large breast or blue eyes, but in context.

I’d be the last person to infer that tall, thin, and long-legged women are the only women who are sexy. I’m 47, short, and could lose a bit of weight, but I know the men I desire see me as sexy because I see myself as sexy and I see them as sexy.

I am very versatile in the appreciation of the human female form. Yes, I have preferences, but I see beauty everywhere where some men don’t even think to look.
