Mike, I considered Daniel Faraday because he's soooo smart and I love intelligent men. He seems so focused on the time travel thing that I would lose interest after awhile. Of course a lady could probably persuade him to focus his thoughts elsewhere if she so desired ;)

Desmond... you are right. For some reason I didn't really consider him but I really do like his character for all the reasons you mentioned.

With regard to training Sawyer, I think the challenge for someone like his character is more than the whole bad boy thing. First, he's not a bad boy to the object of his affection, just with others. If he were a bad boy to his Lady I wouldn't like his character at all. Some of the appeal for Sawyer is the whole tortured soul thing. It would be lovely to show someone like him that he really is a man of honor and courage - he could be a wonderful knight.

Speaking of tortured souls - they all are in one way or another, aren't they?

I like Jack, but he really doesn't evoke any strong emotion from me at all. Neither does Kate. I like the characters that make me feel something - even if it is the "all creeped out" feeling that Ben generates.

Ha. To anyone reading who isn't a LOST fan - of course we know they're only characters on a TV show. It's just sometimes fun to discuss the hypothetical.

Lady Julia,

I was expecting Sawyer. I was not expecting Sayid. Sayid is one of my favorite characters too. He is such a tortured soul. Torn in two by his nobility and his demons. Constantly at war with himself. I was also surprised by you mentioning Hugo. But the more I thought about it, Hugo is the type of guy you wouldn't mind being stuck on an island with, or go out for wings. He is the perfect friend.

Juliette is my favorite female character. She is the most complex. She stands toe to toe with any of the guys. And those eyes. Holy smokes. Her eyes are so expressive. Anger, pleasure, approval, it is all there in her eyes. If only she did eye inductions. They need more complex women on Lost.

I have to cop out on the male characters. I feel the strongest affinity for Daniel Faraday. Imagine having time travel figured out. What a rush. He is also very noble. The anguish he felt when his lady died felt very genuine. What a good actor.

Desmond is the one I wish I was more like. Strong, brave, resourceful and dutiful. Conquering his demons. Imagine pushing the button for years in order to save people. Not sure if it made a difference, but not willing to take the chance and stop. Never giving up hope on finding his Penny.

Whenever I ask the question about favorite character nobody mentions Jack or Kate. Which I find interesting. Jack I kind of understand, because good guys as a rule are not as interesting. It is a tribute to Mathew Fox that he makes Jack as interesting as he is. Kate is a bad girl though. I cannot figure out why nobody never mentions her.
